Product Introduction

The oil pan is the lower half of the crankcase, also known as the lower crankcase. Located at the bottom of the engine, it is removable and seals the crankcase as the outer shell of the oil storage tank.

The oil pan is mostly stamped from thin steel plates. Those with more complex shapes are generally cast in cast iron or aluminum alloy. It is equipped with an oil stabilizing baffle to avoid oil surface vibration and splashing caused by the bumps of the diesel engine, which is conducive to the precipitation of lubricating oil impurities. A dipstick is installed on the side to check the oil level and store the engine oil.

When the engine stops running, part of the engine oil will return to the oil pan due to gravity. When the engine is started, the oil pump will bring the oil to the various lubricating parts of the engine. Most of the oil is usually in the oil pan.

Types of oil pans

The oil pan can be divided into a wet oil pan and a dry oil pan. The wet oil pan is used to seal the crankcase as the outer shell of the oil tank, to seal the crankcase to prevent impurities from entering the oil tank, and to collect and store the lubricating oil flowing back from the friction surfaces, dissipate some of the heat, and prevent the lubricating oil from oxidizing.

Dry oil pans are mostly used in racing cars. By eliminating the main function of the oil pan to store engine oil, various disadvantages caused by intense driving can be avoided.

The oil pans in our daily lives are all wet oil pans. The main function of this oil pan is to prevent the vehicle from running out of oil and leaking oil when the cleaning is too excessive. Generally, the oil pan of the car is flat. Pay attention to the regular cleaning of the car engine oil pan, because this part is at the bottom of the car and is particularly prone to various sludge.
