Aluminum Extrusion

What is aluminum extrusion?

Aluminum extrusion is a technology that forces aluminum alloy materials into a mold with a predetermined cross-sectional shape. A strong punch pushes the aluminum through the die and out of the die hole. It takes the exact form of a mold and is dragged along the runout as this happens.

There are two main processes used for aluminum extrusions – direct and indirect. The direct process involves holding a die head in place and passing the moving stamped metal through it. On the other hand, the blank remains stationary during indirect extrusion. The die assembly then moves toward the blank to create pressure to force the metal through the die.
