Since the Yamaha YZF-R1 was announced in 1998, it has been sought after by sports car enthusiasts and is a symbol of Yamaha sports cars. It is equipped with a 997cc water-cooled 4-stroke parallel 4-cylinder engine with a maximum horsepower of 200. After a minor facelift in 2020, the cylinder head and fuel injection position were fine-tuned. The engine meets the requirements of Euro 5 emission regulations without reducing power, achieving more linear acceleration, KYB inverted front fork, preload, compression, and rebound damping are fully adjustable, and the rear central multi-link is fully adjustable. Single-gun shock absorber.

Yamaha's new YZF-R1 and R1M have been released. Important engine technology updates include a new finger-type valve rocker arm, yamaha r1 cylinder head and fuel injector. It is designed to improve the extreme performance in the full speed range. The purpose of development is to improve the linearity and torque feel unique to the engine.

In order to shorten the distance between the combustion chamber and the throttle valve, the motorcycle cylinder head structure has been updated and a new fuel injector has been adopted. The current model injects from the lower side of the intake duct, while the optimized new model injects from the upper side, allowing the mixture to hit the umbrella-shaped part of the intake valve directly. A dual injector system that can add secondary injection in the high-speed range. The combustion speed in the medium and low speed range has been optimized to improve linearity.

Updated finger-type valve rocker arm system. The high-speed range characteristics have been improved by changing the rocker arm shape. This change can play a key role in improving high-speed performance. In order to prevent the loss of horsepower due to the drop in lubricating oil pressure in the high-speed range, the "center oiling method" is adopted to increase the oil supply to components such as the connecting rod, crank journal and piston to ensure more efficient lubrication and cooling.

The 2025 model is equipped with a special carbon fiber fixed wing, and the details have been adjusted a lot. The side fixed winglet is made of carbon fiber material. Upon closer inspection, you can see that four black expansion screws are fixed to the fairing. The four black expansion screws fix the fixed wing to the fairing, which means that the fixed wing can be replaced at any time, at least if it is broken, you don’t have to replace the entire fairing. The high-end R1M fixed winglet is also made of carbon fiber material, with blue and white lace on the edge. The new model of KYB inverted front fork, the caliper is upgraded to Brembo Stylema integrated caliper.

The R1M with a two-tone fuel tank is full of combat power, electronic shock absorption, transparent oil pot, and high-end configurations such as gold inverted front fork, brakes, and calipers.

The 2025 Yamaha R1 still follows the two color schemes of the old model, black and Yamaha blue, with slight adjustments to the details.
